Hope in Health

There is much evidence to support the importance of maintaining hope in healthcare and I consider that to be an important element of my work.

Virtually all of our engagements with health providers are motivated by hope. Hope for change. Hope for improvement. Hope for relief. Hope for prevention. Hope for cure.

Unfortunately, our healthcare systems lack respect for the power of our thoughts within the healing process and do little to instill hope and encourage our health potential rather than our illness vulnerabilities.

I’m passionate about fostering hope and scaffolding empowerment rather than colluding with fear and helplessness.

I believe in transparent healthcare that balances the sharing of scientific data with stories of innovation, hope and recovery. I support the democratisation of personal health information and I passionately educate on informed consent.

Spirituality

My experience in healthcare has led me to appreciate the great importance of making space for and respecting individual beliefs, values and spiritual priorities.
For some, this is a clear, lifelong relationship to something bigger than self. For others, it is a developing, changing, or new journey.

If you are yearning for a deeper connection to source, however you define that for yourself, or wishing to incorporate prayer into your life and tend to your faith, we can explore this together.

Help with systems

My extensive experience working in health care services clinically, in management and leadership, and specifically with children and families has included collaborating with public and private providers, the disability sector and many other community support organizations.

This has borne a particular investment in assisting people to navigate the often very complicated terrain within and across systems.

These organisations are built on individual models of care within speciality silos. Supporting a person or family to develop their understanding of how to successfully advocate for a holistic lens and personalised care within these services, is something I’m especially interested in helping with.
